Welcome to the People Development Center (PDC). The PDC provides various services to the community regardless of religious affiliation. The mission of PDC is to help individuals build themselves economically, educationally, socially, and spiritually.
The focus of its services is helping the needy and the homeless. Services provided by PDC fill a critical gap for individuals and families located throughout Jefferson County.
The People Development Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization that operates primarily thru grants, donations, and volunteer services. Our vision is to develop individuals who are economically, independent, educated, healthy and informed about advancement opportunities and we are daily operating do so with a mission of “building people through accessibility to educational opportunities, housing, food, emergency assistance and physical wellness so that they may become self-sufficient and productive members of society.
The PDC food bank, operated by the Family Life Center(FLC), feeds over 150 families for a total of about 450 clients (men, women and children) on a monthly basis. The distribution of food begins the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
We have been able to meet these needs with the monthly financial assistance of Jefferson County, Antioch Baptist Church and donations from Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church congregation.
The PDC holds an annual walk-a-thon and health fair to keep the community informed on health issues. Various community organizations set up tables and give the community information on how they support the community.

We could use your help!! We have several opportunities available including Food packages, and distribution conducted monthly, Youth Sports activities, Young Adult mentor programs, Community Service, and Health and Wellness programs.
